About me

A highly experienced copy editor and publishing services provider, I've been involved in the world of books all my working life  first as a bookseller, then in-house at some top publishing houses and, for the past couple of decades, in a freelance capacity.

I began my publishing career as a marketing executive, writing and designing catalogues and other publicity material for a number of London publishers, including Associated University Presses, Blackstone Press, Butterworths (now LexisNexis) and Thames & Hudson.

I also worked for a couple of years as editor of the staff magazine for a major insurance company.

During the 1990s I co-founded a publishing services firm which offered a complete manuscript-to-print package for law publishers, employing a team of editors and typesetters, and turning around some 30,000 typeset pages annually.

In 2006 I moved to Mersea Island, and now provide editorial, tabling and project management services from my waterfront office.

When necessary (and with the client's prior agreement), I can delegate component parts of large or complex projects to members of my team of reliable freelance outworkers.

My regular portfolio ranges from student law textbooks to major practitioner looseleafs. I also typeset a bi-monthly magazine for legal professionals, undertake various design and writing work, and offer advice and assistance on self-publishing projects.

Current clients include LexisNexis, Bloomsbury Professional, The Law Society, Resolution and Pearson Education.
